Moving applicants quickly through the hiring process can be simplified by clearly identifying your process and using an applicant tracking software to minimize the use of paper.  Blitz Applicant Tracking Software gives you the ability to define your hiring process and track the progression of applicants through the various stages.  By doing this you can not only keep your staff more organized and on task, but it gives you the opportunity to see what is working and what isn’t.

Each step should be set up in Blitz Applicant Tracking Software as a milestone: interviews, background check, reviews, job offer, required paperwork, etc.  Even the task of sitting down and defining your timeline will give you the chance to reevaluate what makes sense and will be the most effective before entering your process into the Blitz system.  Spending a little bit of time organizing now will save time later for everyone involved.  To enter your Milestones into Blitz, go to Administration > Lead Milestones.  In this screen you can add or edit current Milestones, and choose the order they should be displayed.

When you have an applicant’s log open in Blitz Applicant Tracking Software, you can change the Milestone while adding a history note.  For instance, when typing in notes after the initial interview, you will simultaneously update the Milestone by selecting it in the dropdown box in the same screen.  However, some tasks, such as sending a request for a background check, may not require you to write any notes because it’s pretty self explanatory.  In this case, you are able to set up Quick Adds, which lets you add a note, change the Status and Milestone, and add an appointment all in one click.  This lets you check off each task as you go and keep your system updated without any extra effort.  Quick Adds can be configured in Administration > Lead Log Quick Adds.

By keeping applicants updated in Blitz Applicant Tracking Software, you are able to run reports to analyze the effectiveness of your hiring process.  Find out how long it is taking to reach each Milestone, pinpoint a specific employee or source involved, and resolve the potential issue to make your process better.  You can also view a timeline for each individual applicant at a glance in their log.
